Breakfast Briefing of expedition with Maya World Expeditions
Staff and Senior Tour Guide. After Breakfast, we will depart
and visit an ancient Maya City and one of the New Seven
Wonders of the World,
Chichen
Itza,
located in the state of Yucatan just 200 kms. west of Cancun.
Chichen
Itza,
(Maya for mouth of the well of the Itzaes) is one of the most
controversial, studied and visited site of the Maya World.
In its golden era
Chichen
Itza
covered an area over 25 square kilometers. Explore the Pyramid
of Kukulkan, considered one of the greatest engineering feats
of all time, rising 30 meters from the ground, it´s
the most impressive building of the Yucatan Peninsula. This
building reveals the profound knowledge of the Mayas every
year during the equinox. It demonstrates the descending of
the god Kukulkan (Maya for the Feathered serpent) to earth
in an light and shadow effect against the pyramid, suggestive
of a snake undulating down a stair case).
The ball Court "Pok Ta PoK" has a cosmic meaning,
with its warlike symbols and almost perfect acoustics, it´s
one of the oldest constructions in the zone. The Temple of
the Warriors and The Observatory are amazing and very unique
as well. Visiting this majestic site, is to enter an indispensable
chapter in the history of the Maya People. Leisure time available
to explore the ruins at your own pace. Buffet lunch at Ik-kil,
the "Sacred Blue Cenote", is Surrounded by exotic
plants, flowers and lush vegetation. Birds, butterflies and
forest animals cohabit in a healthy and harmonious balance.
This is the where you will enjoy a delicious lunch Buffet.
Also the Ik-kil cenote is an ideal place for a refreshing
swim. Continue to Uxmal for lodging. End this meeting with
the Mayas with the marvelous light and sound spectacle, offered
at the Uxmal Ceremonial Center. After the show a Welcome Dinner
