Aluxes are tiny mayan gnomes who help the country folk look after their crops. Even today, farmers leave out gifts, food and drink for the aluxes as a sing of gratitude for their help when the harvaest ir over. If they do not leave these offerings, they say they hear laughter, their tools disappear and their crop are stoned.
