There
are only 4 rooms at this mini-resort so it's perfect for privacy
and enjoying the tropical environment in relative peace and tranquility.
With adequate lead time a group of people could reserve the entire
resort in much the same way you'd reserve a large villa. The rooms
are very comfortable and have private bathrooms with hot and cold
water & showers (pure sweet water, no salt). And each has an
exterior porch where you can relax, read or just swing in a hammock.
The
manicured tropical landscaping adds just the right touch of refinement
to the otherwise natural environment of the Sian Kaan reserve. All
the difficulties of operating within a strictly regulated national
biosphere reserve have been solved by the owners, Michael and Diane.
The Sian Kaan is a 1.3 million acre biosphere reserve set aside
as a habitat for indigenous species and migratory birds. The Sian
Kaan also allows "sustainable usage" which includes some
marginal development and outdoor sporting pursuits.
Away from it
all and pretty much heaven on earth. The only concession is some
of the limitations of an alternate energy resort and they are few.
Sol Caribe has 24 hour electric. All towels, linens and beach towels
are provided. At the restaurant your dietary requests can be fulfilled
as long as you make your requests at the time you make your reservations.
They will need to shop for those items to have them on-hand upon
your arrival. Because the resort is distant from larger stores it
is impossible to "run out" to make a quick purchase, the
exception being locally caught seafood which is plentiful since
Punta Allen is a fishing town. Fish, lobster and shrimp are all
very fresh. Punta Allen town is 8 kilometers (<5 miles) away.
They have a small grocery store, laundry, myriad restaurants and
plenty of fishermen offering boat/snorkel/fishing tours.
